Having bought this gun during the panic a few years back, I was just looking for a pistol at a decent price and this was it.
Having avoided the .45 caliber because I figured that during the impending ammo shortage 9mm would be cheaper and slightly more available (and it was, but not by much). I had heard many complaints of 1911s chambered in 9mm.
Here is my experience with this particular gun:
Good
- At time of purchase the price was a right
- Easy to keep on target
- Eats cheap ammo and spits on hot lead
- Feels good in the hand for a 1911
Bad
- MSRP seems high for what it is
- Sights aren't great at anything more than defensive distance
- Only comes with one mag
- Mags aren't easy to get (I have not tried with other brands of mags, they might work, will update if I test)
- It isn't a fan of hollow points
Verdict
With what I paid for it I'm happy, I didn't buy it looking for a defense pistol or an SHTF firearm, I wanted a 1911 range toy and this fits that roll perfectly.
My one complaint that would be a deal breaker for the gun is the reliability with common 9mm hollow points. If I was buying a gun that would function as both a range toy and a home defense or even a carry gun, I would have to pass on this.
